Musician Infomation

Jim Martinez (piano) Martinez is scheduled to open All-Star Night for the tenth year in a row at the 2006 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. Mr Hampton was also a guest on Jim's fifth CD titled "Praise Him With Jazz" (2002). Martinez has also performed or recorded with notables like the Stan Kenton Band, Bucky Pizzarelli, Russell Malone, Jeff Hamilton, the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Benny Golson, and Ed Thigpen, the first drummer of the Oscar Peterson Trio.

Kristin Korb (vocals/bass) Imagine a player who sings in the tradition of Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan and plays the bass with the authority and swing of the great Ray Brown. With these and many other strong influences, Kristin Korb has created a style and presence all her own. Korb's first CD was a Telarc release produced and backed by bassist Ray Brown. She has also performed or recorded with Benny Green, Jeff Hamilton, John Clayton, Ernestine Andersen and many others.

Todd Johnson (6 string bass) Johnson is recognized as a pioneer of the six-string bass. As an integral member of the critically acclaimed jazz trio of guitarist Ron Escheté, Johnson excels as both a supporting musician and a seasoned soloist. He is consistently cited for his contributions of skill, originality, and versatility, as well as his ability to sound as if he is simultaneously playing bass and rhythm guitar.

Vince Bartels (drums) Vince calls Baton Rouge, Louisiana his first home. He was encouraged to become a musician by his father, Hank, the bassist with the original Dukes of Dixieland. He played in Drum & Bugle Corps and the Salt Creek Jazz Band during High School. In 1976 Vince moved to Sacramento and joined Fulton Street Jazz Band in 1978. He recently recorded two CD's as a leader, featuring pianist Eddie Higgins.
